The Hay-Adams Hotel is the epitome of luxury boutique hotels. The hotel drips in a traditional luxury Americana finishes and appointments from its fine wood finished interiors and luxurious crystal chandeliers and carved ceilings. The rooms are stunning and the beds are comfortable. Ask for a room looking out over the White House and National mall area, and you will be living the absolute lap of luxury with intimate views of the imperial city. Our other choice is the Willard Hotel, described by many as the historic crown jewel of Washington DC luxury hotels. The Willard Hotel is located on Pennsylvania Avenue and it is steps from the National Mall and the White House. When entering the Willard Hotel, you will be greeted with what can only be described as a palatial marble covered lobby from floor to ceiling, grand columns, and gilded gold coffered ceilings in a style that simply could not be reproduced today. In both the Hay Adams Hotel and Willard, you will receive top of the line over the top service. |
If you’re looking to be close to Washington DC attractions, the State Plaza Hotel is a “sleeper pick” in terms of convenience, decent rooms and affordability. Literally walk across the street and you are steps from every major monument on the Washington Mall. The rooms have been recently renovated but still seem a bit out dated, however they are clean and more than acceptable. The staff at the State Plaza Hotel are very friendly and will work extra hard to make sure your stay is enjoyable. |
There are a lot of factors that go into this recommendation and there are some basic assumptions. As our staff as spent many a day travelling in and out of Washington, DC., no consideration would be accurate without considering some basic facts of life. First, driving around DC to get to appointments can be a nightmare. The streets are crowded, confusing and there seems to be no straight path from one place to another. Worse yet, getting in and out of Washington DC, particularly by car, can be an equally trying experience. Our best piece of advice – stay close to your business meeting spot, if you can. With that said, we like these Washington DC hotels for business.
From the South – for those heading in from the South and on official business, we like Capitol Hill Suites, because you are close to the House and senate Buildings and also a stone’s throw away from Route 395, providing an easy exit from the City and points south.
From the North – the best way in and out of the traffic nightmare that is Washington DC is nearly always Route 50 to the Washington Baltimore expressway. Attempting to move north on 395 or 495 is an exercise in futility as rush hour approaches. Try the Hampton Inn – Washington DC Convention Center. The Hampton Inn Washington is in a good location with access to both K Street and the House and Senate Buildings, and also provides easy access to New York Avenue which can take you straight out to Route 50. The Hampton Inn is reasonably priced, up to date and provides all the services business travelers expect. Another good choice with reasonable rates and good value is the Donovan Hotel, which is located in the same vicinity |
